Moor Peat is an organic substance, product of natural decomposition of multitudes of plants under special conditions. Unlike other mud used in the spa industry, moor peat contains virtually no clay and consists of the residue of herbs, flowers and grasses. Over a period of thousands of years this residue has been transformed into a fine paste that easily dissolves in water. It has an unusual concentration of bio-minerals, trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, plant hormones and fatty acids in a molecular form that is easier for the human skin to absorb. Think of it as a plant extract not from just one plant, but hundreds. Its uncanny ability to heal, nourish and detoxify has been observed by people for millennia and used scientifically in European Spas for well over a century. It is used not only to beautify, but also to cure multitude of ailments from mobility problems, arthritis, and hormonal imbalance due to post surgery recovery and muscle recovery in sports. Its actions are anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, natural antibiotics, high heat retention and detoxifying.

One of the famous examples of peat's ability to preserve the human tissue is the "Tollund Peat Bog Man" which was preserved in an unbelievable state in peat for thousands of years without the benefit of Egyptian mummification. You can read all about him here: Silkeborg Museum: The Tollund Man

Balneologic Peat intended for wraps

Description:

The balneologic peat for wraps

The balneologic peat for wraps is a mixture of balneo-peat and peaty water. After the specific modification, the balneo-peat can satisfy all requirements for a recovery and preventive medium intended for preventive-curative use. The proper consistency is obtained without any thermal treatment.

Characteristics of packages:

  • Foment Pads: for a great heating effect without any product rinsing. Balneo Peat stays contained in the pad. Can be heated or put in refrigerator.

  • Silver Tubing: helps keep Balneo Peat fresh & potent for 12 months or more. Eliminates cross-contamination that can occur in bucket containers. The silver tubing takes less space in land fills.

Types of Therapies:

Thalassotherapy - is the associated and simultaneous use of the beneficial effects of heated seawater and its components. The application of seawater (which is very similar to the body’s own internal fluids) allows minerals such as magnesium and potassium to be drawn into the blood stream while toxins are actively eliminated. The highest source of concentrated minerals can be found in High Magnesium Dead Sea Brine.

Heliotherapy – the sun, when used in moderation still remains an excellent source of energy. It boosts immunity and stabilizes your mood when used appropriately. (Think how much your attitude changes when winter is over and spring has begun!) Skin treatments combined with sea salt baths are very healing and therapeutic.  Limit sun exposure to 20 minutes a day is highly recommended. If you have a serious disorder, always consult a physician before administering treatments.

Phytotherapy - treatments utilizing wild-grown herbs, flowers, plants or leaves. Combine with Dead Sea salt baths, oil-infusions or organic butters, their affects can be far superior to pharmacological treatments for several medical conditions.

Balneotherapy
refers to the use of balneology (treatment of diseases by use of bathing) in the treatment of disease. The aim of these treatments are to stimulate the circulatory process to include the lymph and blood circulation, enhance the immune system and increase/accelerate the cell activity by the dilation of the tissue and vessels by activating the self healing potential, naturally.

Detox Body Wrap:
(also aids in shrinking of the skin, minimizing scars & stretch marks!)

1/3 Dead Sea Mineral Mud
1/3  Balneo Peat
1/3 Bohemian Sapropel Mud

Thin Mud Blend down with choice of Hydrosols or Aloe Vera Juice until it reaches the consistency of thinned pudding. Apply with Boar's Hair Fan Brush. Allow to semi-dry. Wrap in Space Blanket & cover with heating blanket minimum of 45 minutes.

Balneo Peat Usage:

It can be used within the balneo-therapy as a supporting agent for muscle overloading syndromes caused by sport, workload and degenerative processes of the locomotive organs. The wrap shall be applied on the cleaned skin of a painful part. Regenerative and curative effects consist in warming-up the painful part and the organic-mineral effect of the wrap.

Curative effects of peat:

  • thermo-physical
  • physico-chemical
  • biochemical

One of the main curative effects of peat is the heat effect when the heat obtained by the peat warming-up expands by radiation, transmission and conduction. The heat persistence of peat as compared to the heat capacity of water is 5.15 x longer, which maintains the strong deeply effecting curative heat effect of the peloid with a global heat response of the organism as the complex reflexive reaction. If peat is treated in a special way according to this standard, the heat persistence can be extended by 20% and the product can more easily be handled at the same time.

Peat even contains some products of the humification process (humic acids, agents of steroid and hormonal nature) that become a part of the complex peloid (Definition: Pronunciation: 'pel-"oid Function: noun: mud prepared and used for therapeutic purposes <natural therapeutic resources, including mineral waters and peloidsJournal of the American Medical Association>)  effect with direct application.

Indications:

  • chronic rheumatic diseases
  • arthritis
  • muscle contracture
  • articular cartilage diseases
  • painful vertebrogenous syndromes
  • gynecological diseases - under the specialist's supervision

Contraindications:

  • serious disorders of the nervous system
  • acute urethrocystitis
  • gravidity (an application along the spine)
  • decompensated cardiopathia and serious circulation disorders
  • feverish conditions
  • serious inflammatory skin diseases

Aplication:

After warming-up to 50°C, the peat can be applied as the thermo-therapy with a subsequent heat and local effect. Peat shall be warmed-up for the required temperature that is checked by putting one finger into the peloid; or, you can apply a bit of peloid on the forearm (the best way to check the required temperature is to use a thermometer). In the event that the peloid is in thermal tolerance, you can apply the foment to the painful part and cover with foil and terry cloth. The common procedure time is about 20 minutes. It is useful to apply the foment while a patient is situated on the protective polyethylene film which would protect the area from pollution.

If you choose the negative thermal version (a cold application) -14°C, or cryo-application - 1.7 to 4.4°C (in the event of acute rheumatic process or locomotive organ traumatism), the peloid should be cooled down in a refrigerator or freezer, and after the temperature is checked the foment should be applied for a period of 10 minutes while a lesion is covered with the protective thermal layer again. The cold application with the temperature under 14°C is indicated for rheumatic diseases, peripheral and central muscle convulsions, traumatogenic conditions, etc. After the foment is applied, the breathing is suspended at first and then frequency of breathing gets faster, while the ratio of O2 and CO2 shows better values.

It is useful to take a short shower after the application and then apply the dry wrap to the painful part, as it can assure another thermal accumulation and thermal comfort. After this procedure, the used balneo-mixture is transported back to the firm and used for the production of substrates.
